words, only words...

there's few things in life I care less about than Big Brother (oh wait - here's one) but I was intrigued by this Guardian article as it was about Pete, who is disabled, and also on the day of the Commons vote on an enquiry about the Iraq war, one of the most popular articles on the site...

I don't really know this interviewer at all, so can't compare his style in this and other articles, but why oh why does he transcribe Pete's ticks? What does that achieve? Anyone who knows anything about Tourettes doesn't need it; anyone who knows less will not really understand what it means or the implications for a persons life. I think it detracts from any important points which Pete might make. His tadger size is not one of them....
