the saddest thing in the world..

..last night I heard this story about a woman, who escaped domestic violence to move into rented accommodation who died and was not found for about three years. I don't know if it was just that I was tired but it really knocked me sideways - I couldn't sleep for ages.

And when I came online tonight to find a link I discovered another story, in a different place but a similar tale.

How can no-one have noticed? I'm not a great neighbour, having live in assistants means that I really value any time alone I get (which usually means someone else is around in another room) and am not inclined to chat at length with neighbours. But perhaps its time I started.
