Book recommendation...

... if you haven't discovered Anne Tyler - get to it, she's fab. My favourite is 'Breathing Lessons' but I've just finished 'A Slipping Down Life' which was really fabulous too. Very low key and subtle - yet brilliantly evocative of the situations in the novels. 'Back when we were grown ups' is great too.

I always thought I preferred richer prose - and certainly I'd say that Anne Tyler was richer than Ian McEwan, for example. I've just started 'The Shadow of The Wind' by Carlos Ruiz Zafon which I think I'll enjoy - although I think its a bit flowery for me really. I have to read it for book group so I'll be interested in what they all think.
